In sum, our Client was lawfully riding his bicycle on the sidewalk on North Roosevelt Blvd., in Key West Florida. While still on the sidewalk, he was crossing the entrance to an adjacent shopping plaza when he was struck by a negligent driver who made a blind left turn over three lanes of traffic from the other side of the roadway.
On impact, our Client’s chest violently slammed into the handlebars before he was ejected from the bicycle resulting in extensive injuries including to his head, neck, back, chest and other body parts which sustained road-rash, multiple abrasions, friction burn with subsequent infection. Immediately after the crash, the Client was in severe pain with multiple injury sites including open wounds/abrasions from road-rash. He was transported by Ambulance to the Emergency Room in Key West where he was diagnosed with blunt trauma, closed head injury, rib fracture, chest wall contusion, solid organ injury, hollow viscus injury, etc. In view of the significant traumatic findings the Client was air lifted to the Emergency Room in Miami.
Ultimately, we commenced settlement discussions with the responsible insurance company for the at fault driver. After much back and forth, we settled this bicycle accident case for $200,000.00 in a little over one year. The Client was thrilled with the outcome and the substantial compensation he received for his bike accident injuries.
